What we offer
With specialist, one-to-one support from our expert outreach and advice workers, IWSSN enables survivors to access services, support and compensation they are eligible for.
We invite survivors to contact us either by telephone or email in the first instance so that our experienced outreach and advice workers can arrange an initial appointment to assess the client’s needs and advise what could be applied for. Meetings take place at our offices – The Whispering Hope Centre in Kentish Town, London – or home visits can be arranged for those who are less mobile. We offer the option to act on a client’s behalf, so that we can support clients with filling in applications and oversee any related correspondence.
IWSSN provides reliable, consistent and expert support in a variety of ways and encourages all survivors to contact us for further information about the help we offer. If survivors are interested in finding out what they might be eligible for, they should contact our the Whispering Hope Centre on: 0207 267 9997.
Support with accessing benefits, pensions and compensation survivors are eligible for
IWSSN provides practical help with applying for financial support survivors may be eligible for. To secure survivors’ long-term financial security, IWSSN campaigns for financial redress and structural equality. Proudly, IWSSN is survivor-led, and our campaign priorities are directed by our 4,500 strong survivor membership.
We offer support and advice about applying for financial support from Irish and UK governments via the telephone, email, home visits for those who are less mobile and appointments or drop-ins at our offices based in Kentish Town, London.
Support survivors to heal childhood and adolescent mental scars and take proactive steps to improve their health and well-being.
We take the time to understand the health and social care needs of survivors, and provide support with overcoming mental scars, which too often still cause much pain and suffering.
We refer survivors to specialist services (such as counselling), run our own health and well-being classes, aid survivors with being rehoused and offer drop-in sessions and appointments for practical support to ensure survivors do not suffer in silence.
Prevent isolation by connecting the survivor community, providing a consistent, reliable support network and giving voice
IWSSN brings the survivor community together through a variety of different means. We empower survivors by organising mass meetings that guide the direction of our campaigns, provide a safe, welcoming and caring base at our offices in Kentish Town for survivors to drop-in for support, and we run classes to help forge friendships and develop skills.
Throughout the year we run a series of weekly educational classes (IT, Health and Wellbeing, Art and Yoga), organise bi-annual social events as well as supporting survivors with family tracing/reunions and returning to Ireland.
