Survivors of Magdalene Laundries are reminded that the Restorative Justice Scheme is still open for applications. The scheme includes financial awards and special medical cards, that will be available from the summer of 2015.
This scheme was introduced after the Taoiseach’s historic State apology, made to Magdalene Women in February 2013. After inviting Justice John Quirke to make recommendations for a scheme that financially awarded Survivors, to recognis the injustice they experienced in forced residency and labour in the Laundries, the Restorative Justice Scheme was enacted.
IWSSN supports Survivors with applications for redress, and have already helped nearly 100 Magdalene Women secure financial awards from the Irish Justice and Equality Department.
If you are a Survivor of Magdalene Laundries, or if you know someone who is, please invite them to get in touch with us, so we can see if we can help.
